This is a bit of a personal post but y’all have seen me completely balls ass naked and dicking down dozens of lovely ladies so what the fuck. I got a new tattoo to celebrate two months of sobriety from alcohol! I wanted to get something that meant a lot to me and also celebrated my 2 month mark of being free from alcohol again. I have personally struggled with alcoholism for the better part of 20 years. I went 4 years without a drop and then last year foolishly decided to allow myself a drink or two occasionally. It didn’t take long for me to realize once again, that whenever I drink, it’s not long before I end up hurting family members & friends, the people who love me most and the ones who are always there for me. I can’t drink anymore and I’m weak at times, so I needed a visual reminder to help me stay strong in my moments of weakness. After seeing Wicked 11 times in theaters, it definitely became my fave movie; I read the book & reread the original Wizard of Oz book. It’s truly the greatest American fairy tale written and while Frank L Baum wrote the masterpiece, W.W. Denslow’s art is what gave every Oz story after (whether in print, film, etc.) it’s visual cues. He was a man who loved a lot of women and had 3 failed marriages, spent money as fast as he made it (at one point he owned an island in Bermuda that he named after himself), and struggled with alcoholism his entire life until it killed him and he died relatively poor. I can relate to a few of those struggles, and while his end was tragic, the beauty and character in his art still stand the test of time. Each character represents something I think every good person needs: Scarecrow’s intelligence, Tin Man’s kindness & compassion, the Cowardly Lion’s bravery, Toto’s loyalty, and Dorothy’s determination and ability to bring people together for the greater good. Happy to still be here and have these Bros with me on my sober journey 🏃🏻♂️
