We spent the weekend in London before he headed home. He was a truly amazing bottom, it must be said. About 2 months later I was heading to Paris with a friend who’s also a big Doctor Who fan. And Paris is a special place for DW fans. So I arranged to catch my American boy while I was there. So off we went to Paris whilst I waited for a reply from my boy about where and when to catch up. But he didn’t reply. So my mate agreed to be flexible, cos he knew I’d disappear for a few hours at some point, and we saw the sights while I waited. The oddest thing happened while waiting. My mate & I did the Eiffel Tower and, on the 2eme Etage, we quoted the opening lines of City of Death, as every DW fan is required to do by law, & then I heard someone call me from behind. I turned around - and no, it wasn’t my boy… It was another old DW fan mate from back in Australia. He had, of course, had exactly the same motivation for being there as we did. I had no idea he was in Europe and it was the most uncanny place imaginable to see him! So we did dinner and caught up. But the text from my boy never came. On the train back to london a text finally arrived. It was from my boy’s number but it wasn’t him, it was his friend & she informed me he’d died suddenly from a cerebral haemorrhage a week before. It was a really miserable journey home.
