Climbing became a part of my life at a very early age. Iโve gone through different periods of climbing more and climbing less, but Iโve climbed since I was in single digits. These days Iโm inside way more than outside, but only because my life is full and I donโt get to go to my favorite mountains as much as Iโd like. ๐ Most days Iโm on top rope, but I do boulder a fair bit too. Sport climbing is my favorite, but I donโt always lead when Iโm working on maintaining fitness in the gym. Running laps on a roof engages the whole body and is a fun technique to learn. I can remember when I first figured out how to โbicycleโ with my feet. Bicycling involves pushing with one toe while pulling with the topside of the opposing foot. It helps lock the lower body in place while you advance a hand. Being an upper level climber is a lot like any sport โฆ it takes a lot of practice, appropriate gear, and the mastering of correct techniques. When I am climbing is about the only time my mind is completely quiet. I do enjoy listening to my favorite music on the wall, but for just a bit while I am making those moves the rest of life briefly disappears from around me. ๐
