And when she burned the whole world turned to see what shone
and everyone, no everyone,
would burn their fingers for just a touch of her flame, but always as she’s come ,
she’d go,
and the night would cool again
and the world would be left in wonder
with only stinging cheeks
and smooth fingertips
to remind them she was real at all.
