🕑 Added 2022-05-01 18:11:04 +0000 UTC Mexico made me feel so submissive in so many ways. My schedule was entirely in the hands of other forces and individuals for much of my stay - completely outside my usual. And it was a great exercise. Initially I kept coming up against different layers of my own frustration because living this way was not my usual. But the more I accepted and released into my reality, the more I enjoyed it. I started thinking less about being late and started thinking more "I will get there when I get there." I stopped focusing on the how and started focusing on the now. Bit by bit my desire for control was chipped away by my complete loss of it. Having to rely on people to speak for me added another layer. I could barely communicate without the assistance of another or a robot - leaving me constantly at the mercy of an intermediary to be able to do basic life tasks. And yet...they got done. They took longer and more effort, but there was always a way. I just had to let go of my expectations of how I thought things should be done and accept the ways in which they were actually going to be. Submitting to Mexico time has instilled a sense of slow I had been searching for many many years.
